How (and why) I use AI

I use AI as a tool, similar to how a painter uses a brush. I create my pictures after multiple iterations, using my own inspiration, taste and judgement at every step.

AI has brought about a new era of creation which we as a society are still grappling with.

For me, as for many people, it was not possible to pursue a life as an artist. But AI has opened up this world to me and I am discovering my artist voice.

Let’s not beat around the bush — AI was built in a controversial way. AI companies trained their models on content they did not get permission to use and didn’t pay for. That’s a problem which is yet to be resolved in courtrooms and regulation. This might take decades for society to agree how to move forward. In the meantime, I started playing with AI. And I found that I could express myself by using this capability in a way that I couldn’t before due to time limitations.

I also understand and am sympathetic to the perspective of people who choose to boycott art created with the assistance of AI. So I think it’s important that I am open about how I make my art so you can make an informed choice.
